Erectile dysfunction
What is erectile dysfunction?
Erectile dysfunction is a man’s inability to get or maintain a firm erection for sexual intercourse.
The usual treatments include oral drug therapies that typically have uncomfortable adverse effects for the patient, do not stop the progression of the disease, and need to be consumed to obtain results.
In our care centers, we have the most advanced therapies for those patients for whom traditional drug therapy is not practical or who do not want to consume them due to the risks and problems they entail, which include Shockwave therapy or genital rejuvenation with PRP.
Shockwave Therapy
This therapy consists of low-intensity extracorporeal shock waves applied directly to the penis, being a safe and effective alternative.
As men advance in age and the effects of coexisting diseases such as diabetes mellitus, the small blood vessels that fill the penis begin to constrict and weaken.
With less blood flow to the penis, it becomes more difficult to fill during stimulation, leading to erectile dysfunction.
How does Shockwave therapy work?
When shockwave therapy is used on an organ, it delivers energy to that tissue through its acoustic wave, resulting in a cascade of biological reactions, including the release of growth factors that result in neovascularization, that is, growth. And improving blood supply, thus addressing the root of the problem, which is why promising results have been obtained in the regression of the disease.
The best results are obtained by giving two weekly sessions for three weeks, with an interval of 3 weeks without treatment, and repeating another two weekly sessions for three weeks.
Features of Shockwave therapy
Outpatient
It is done in 30 minutes.
Does not require the use of anesthesia.
Immediate recovery.
Does not cause any pain.
Therapy with Prostaglandin E1 or Alprostadil
This medication goes into the corpora cavernosa of the penis through injections that increase genital blood circulation.
Improved blood flow favors erection and helps maintain it. The erectile effect usually occurs within 5 or 15 minutes and is generally maintained for over 30 minutes. Its continuous use favors sexual performance, even in patients with diabetes mellitus.
The first sessions take place in our office until the patient learns to do it on their own and can continue improving at their own pace.
Totally effective in patients with diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure. The effect is directly on the penis, so there are no systemic adverse effects as with oral therapy.
